Intergenerational Artistic Workshop for all Interested

We offer a wide range of artistic activities related to the exhibition Paper, Rock, Scissors—Materials and Tools of Art that can be tried out directly in workshops. How is paper made? What is a sculpture? Are there also works of art made of fabric? What exactly is the sense of touch? Can any material become art? And how old is the oldest pair of scissors in St. Pölten? We will explore all these questions and other considerations during a short tour of the exhibition. Afterwards, everything will be ready for you in The Other Laboratory, where you can try your hand at the materials and tools featured in the exhibition.

Paper, plaster, fabric, paints, scissors, string, mirrors, chalk—tearing, cutting, painting, pouring, shaping, writing, threading, gluing. Or maybe you have completely different ideas? Each weekend focuses on a different material. Check the schedule to find out which one it is.

This time
Maria Bartuszová was a sculptor known for her innovative, organic forms and tactile sculptures. Her works are inspired by natural phenomena such as raindrops and plant growth.
Do you recognise such shapes from your everyday life? Try moulding three-dimensional puzzle pieces out of modelling clay. Or close your eyes and form an interactive modelling clay installation with your hands that keeps changing. Sometimes it shrinks, sometimes it grows in height, sometimes it gets holes and dents, sometimes it is completely smooth and round, then again hilly and pointed. In this way, all participants leave their own individual traces in the material.
