Description
On 9 November, from 10am to 5pm, the Landhaus St. Pölten will once again become the centre of active engagement: for the seventh time, the Lower Austria Volunteer Fair organised by Kultur.Region.Niederösterreich will open its doors – a day dedicated entirely to voluntary work.
Over 50 organisations from all areas of society – from emergency services and social organisations to senior citizen, youth and care facilities, and sports, cultural and environmental initiatives – will demonstrate the diversity of voluntary work in Lower Austria. Whether regular, project-based or spontaneous, volunteering gives meaning, community and joy – and enriches the lives of everyone involved.
Volunteering as a living community
The volunteer fair offers a comprehensive overview of the wide range of volunteer work in Lower Austria. The organisations on site are available for personal discussions and provide individual advice – regardless of whether someone wants to help on a regular basis or is looking for a volunteer position with flexible hours. Those who are still unsure where their commitment would be best suited can seek advice from the Volunteer Centre Lower Austria's ‘volunteer check’. This straightforward service helps to assess interests, talents and time resources and find suitable opportunities.
The attractive supporting programme makes the volunteer fair an exciting day out for the whole family.
Open day in the government district
As part of the open day in the government district, which takes place at the same time, visitors can take a rare look behind the scenes in the office of the provincial governor from 11.30am to 1pm. Many institutions in the government district are also taking part: Forum Landtag, Museum Niederösterreich, Landesbibliothek und Landesarchiv and Festspielhaus St. Pölten are offering special programmes. Culinary delights are provided by the ‘So schmeckt Niederösterreich’ delicacies market on Landhausboulevard and the restaurants in the cultural district with regional specialities.
It is also worth taking a detour to the interesting institutions around the government district – such as ORF NÖ, the St. Pölten Synagogue or the KinderKunstLabor.
The Lower Austria Volunteer Fair impressively demonstrates what volunteering really means: people who give their time, skills and passion to do good for others. Every contribution counts – and together they create a strong sense of community that sustains our society.
