Siblings – Awesome & Annoying

Siblings can be a team. Or a daily stress test. Often both. And they can be related by blood—or chosen. The group exhibition Siblings – Great & Annoying opens up a space to explore questions of siblinghood and this special closeness: sticking together and rubbing against each other, sharing and giving, inventing together—and even arguing.

Siblinghood is reflected in the exhibition through works created jointly by artists who are siblings. In addition, there will be works that explore sibling relationships and the spaces of childhood. The exhibition builds on what children in the KinderKunstLabor repeatedly describe: that siblings are relationships that shape us. Whether growing up with them or as an only child, even among peers, boundaries are tested in play, rules are negotiated, alliances are formed, and things are built, tried out, discarded, and reimagined together.
