ReGenerativa
ReGenerativa - the new cultural platform for regenerationPast event
Description
To launch the new cultural future platform ReGenerativa, we invite children aged 6 to 12 and interested adults to a free theme day featuring short talks and open workshops centered around the topic of “Regeneration.”
Opening at 9:30 a.m. with Mona Jas, Artistic Director of the KinderKunstLabor, and Christoph Thun-Hohenstein, Artistic Director of the future platform ReGenerativa, as well as Hermann Dikowitsch, Head of the Department of Art and Culture at the Office of the Lower Austria Provincial Government, representing Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. This will be followed by keynote talks by artist Veronika Dirnhofer and writer Michael Stavarič.
Workshops: 10:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m. & 1:30–4:00 p.m.
Animals and Other Species, Nature and Plants: What might buildings inspired by animals rather than humans look like? How would a snail design its home – round, protective and sustainable? How does a spider spin its web – delicate yet stable, precise and efficient? And how does a beaver construct its lodge – from natural materials, cleverly arranged and perfectly adapted to its environment?
// Workshop with Kay Walkowiak, artist
Water: Why is water a central force of regeneration? How can we engage with water mindfully?
// Workshop with Herwig Turk, artist
Forest/Wood: Dreaming to change reality and exploring the utopia of imagination in connection with dream.lab (a project by Rivane Neuenschwander).
// Workshop with Andreas Hoffer, curator and art educator
Textiles: How can clothing be developed regeneratively? How can the negative impacts of fast fashion be avoided? Could new technologies help? Current reports and a handbook of textile fibers (for all participants to take home) support the work in this workshop.
// Workshop with Karin Oèbster, fashion designer
Cycles: What do we mean by cycles—in biological and technical contexts? What significance do cycles have for regeneration and for our relationship to sustainability/biodiversity as well as digital technologies, including artificial intelligence?
// Workshop with Ronja Grossar, IDRV – Institute of Design Research Vienna
The future platform ReGenerativa aims to promote regeneration as a new mindset and game-changer for developing a better future. Its goal is not to force the future against nature, but to shape it in harmony with nature — strongly supported by artistic imagination, entrepreneurial vision, the creativity and poetry of children and other generations, as well as powerful technologies such as generative AI. Guided by the motto: "Regeneration — let’s build a flourishing future together.”
