What do siblinghood and childhood mean today, and how does collaborative work function in artistic processes?

The tour invites visitors to explore these questions.

 

The room installation Bilderhauen, Skulpturenbauen (Carving Pictures, Building Sculptures) by Irene & Christine Hohenbüchler, which is created in workshops together with visitors, is discussed during the tour. A sculptural structure grows in the exhibition from strings of beads knotted together. Their co-creative approach and collaborative construction become a central motif.

 

Lygia Clark's sensory masks, on display in Austria for the first time, are also discussed as artistic objects. They open up access to themes such as perception, physicality, and participation, which Clark understands in her work as “participant” roles.

Yoko Gwen Halbwidl's work Gatherings, islands made of felted sheep's wool, can be experienced directly through movement, crawling, or lying down. There is also space to share stories about one's own childhood bedroom. When and how the air-filled balloon installation Langer Atem (Long Breath) by Flora and Martin Szurcsik-Nimmervoll can be entered is decided by the communication and cooperation of the entire group.

 

During this intergenerational tour of the exhibition, art-loving visitors gain in-depth insights into selected works and artistic positions. At the same time, children are invited to draw freely, try things out, and implement their own ideas in the open workshop in the exhibition space—with the option of joining and leaving at any time. The result is a joint exhibition visit that offers space for both concentrated art viewing and playful artistic creation.
